ISLAMABAD: To accelerate economic growth by upgrading infrastructure in Balochistan, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has been allocated funds for various projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-2020.
For the construction of a road to connect Zhob to Kuchlak under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, the authority has been issued Rs3 billion out of a total of Rs6bn, said an official while giving a briefing on the designated funds.
Meanwhile, out of Rs2bn allocated under PSDP for construction of a highway from Basima to Khuzdar, Rs1bn has been granted to the authority.
Furthermore, a 32-kilometre long extension from Rakhi to Gajj section of N-70 worth over Rs22bn is also being built by the NHA. Out of the total fund allocated, Rs14bn has been spent on the project.
To establish the Lak-pass-Noushki section, the government has allocated Rs1.5bn.
A 321km long Hoshab-Awaran-Khuzdar section of Ratto Dero-Gwadar Motorway will also be constructed under the PSDP.
While briefing about the upgradation of the remaining portion of the National Highway N-25 Kararo-Wadh Section, the official informed that Rs350 million have been designated for the project. So far, Rs175mn from the total have been issued.
To upgrade the Quetta-Dhadhar Section of N-65, the government has released Rs250mn out of a total of Rs500mn.
From a total of Rs250mn earmarked for the construction of Dera Murad Jamali Bypass, Rs125mn has been issued so far.
A sum of Rs1bn had been allotted to construct the Yakmach-Kharan Road in 2019, out of which Rs500 million have been released so far.
A total of Rs2.9bn has been spent till June 30, 2019, to establish the Yarik-Sagu-Zhob section of N-50 worth Rs76bn. An additional Rs1bn were set aside for the project, out of which Rs500mn have been released, the official said.
