Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev called on Prime Minster Imran Khan to give a detailed briefing on the transport railway corridor by sharing its plan for an international railway route linking the two countries through Afghanistan. The route is expected to pass from Uzbekistan-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar.
PM stressed upon benefit of the respective railway link to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asian Republics, China and Europe.
Uzbek delegation led by Mr. Ganiev and the Pakistani side led by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also agreed to increase the volume of bilateral trade to Rs45 billion.
The meeting furthermore discussed matters of regional security and connectivity. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa was called on at the GHQ by the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Ganiev. Intercountry cooperation will help in promoting peace and stability, said COAS.
