Uplift package worth Rs 10bn approved for Gujrat

GUJRAT: The Punjab government has approved a mega development package worth Rs 10 billion for Multan. The uplift schemes are part of the  2021-22 Annual Development Programme (ADP) and will be inaugurated within the present year.

According to sources, the Chief Minister approved revamping of old sewerage system, construction of 14-kilometre old GT road from Rehmania Bridge to Kathala railway crossing, establishment of Phase-II of the small industrial estate area on 150 acres and Track-II of the Servis Morr flyover connecting Rehman Shaheed Road to the GT Road bypass. 

On the proposal of MNA Chaudhry Hussain Elahi, a 100-bed hospital will be constructed  in Lakhanwal area of NA-68 along with other uplift projects. 

According to  official sources, Rs 400 million have also been earmarked in the next ADP for the development of the city with construction of roads, streets and drains. 

As per reports, development packages for the towns of Dinga, Sara I Alamgir and Lalamusa have been proposed by PTI lawmakers Mian Akhtar Hayat, Chaudhry Arshad and Syed Faizul Hassan. These packages have also been approved. 

According to details, go-ahead has been given for Rescue 1122 centres for Lalamusa and Dinga, construction of Rs 1.5 billion overhead bridge on Rajjar railway crossing, construction of Kharian-Dinga and Lalamusa-Dinga roads, establishment of trauma centres in Sara I Alamgir Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital and Dinga and construction of a 10-bed dialysis centre in Kharian THQ Hospital.
