RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is coordinating with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to resolve the issues associated with Raja Bazar, informed RDA Chairman, Tariq Mehmood Murtaza.
The plan includes providing feasible access to the residents, and business community; conservation of heritage, promotion of tourism, and uplift of living standards.
The UNDP will also design a roadmap with RDA for the socio-economic development of the area.
While highlighting the procedure of renovation, the Chairman RDA was that the PC-I of the project will cost around Rs.74mn. Moreover, the RDA will also introduce an environment-friendly bus for motorists to overcome the problem of traffic congestion.
Furthermore, the chairman informed that a food street on the pattern of the old city will also be developed. Similarly, the old buildings will also be restored using brick soling as per traditional and original pattern besides introducing similar signage for all shops.
To maintain the originality of the site, the RDA chairman apprised that the services of Walled City Authority (WCA) Lahore will also be taken and its Director-General Kamran Lashari will visit Rawalpindi.
