ISLAMABAD: In a meeting presided by the Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, the feasibility of providing water to twin cities from Tarbela Dam was reviewed.
According to the details, the project is likely to provide 200mn gallons of water to the twin cities and the capacity will be gradually increased to 650mn gallons.
The meeting was attended by Special Minister to Prime Minister (SAPM) on CDA Ali Nawaz Awan, Chairman CDA, Amer Ahmed Ali, and CEO Public-Private Partnership Authority.
While speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the initiation of the project will resolve the problem of water scarcity in Islamabad for the next 25-30 years.
Currently, the daily demand for water of twin cities stands at 440mn gallons whereas the total water supplied to both cities is 220mn gallons.
