ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued a statutory regulatory order (SRO) in the Gazette of Pakistan, dictating new parameters to regulate buildings in sector E-11.
With billions of rupees invested in over 50 unauthorised high-rise buildings in E-11 Islamabad, investors were stuck in limbo after CDA ordered all construction activities to be ceased.
The SRO states, “Due to lack of enforcement, hundreds of projects have been executed in Islamabad. There have been several ruling from august courts to take immediate steps in order to provide relief to residents of these projects. There are number of multi-storey housing projects constructed in E-11 without getting necessary approval from the CDA.”
The civic authority is now considering regularising the apartment buildings in question, provided that the consultants carrying out the health and safety evaluation study give an all-clear for inhabiting.
CDA will then follow standard procedure such as collecting compoundable and non-compoundable charges from the developers before proceeding to change the status of the unauthorised buildings.
