Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started dismantling Burma Bridge, while its reconstruction is awaiting cabinet’s approval, CDA Director Roads and Maintenance Muhammad Lutfullah told the media.
Parts of the bridge have already been falling since a while, but the monsoon made it more vulnerable. Therefore, immediate dismantling was started, he added. However, how long it takes to reconstruct the bridge will depend on how soon the cabinet approves it.
The dismantling will take two weeks, officials from the civic body told media.
It is to be noted that this bridge was constructed in 1950.
