ISLAMABAD: A sum of Rs55 billion is to be utilized by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) that will be spent on various development projects in Islamabad.
The announcement was made during a weekly meeting of the national coordination committee on housing, construction and development held, prime minister in the chair.
The amount to be spent was collected via auction proceedings conducted in July and September, by the authority.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Special Assistant to PM Malik Ameen Aslam, Lt Gen (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa and Dr Shehbaz Gul, State Bank Governor Reza Baqir, Naya Pakistan Housing Authority Chairman Lt Gen (R) Anwar Ali Haider and various senior officers. The chief secretaries joined via video-link.
The meeting was briefed on the progress of the ongoing development projects by Chairman CDA.
This included the completion of Park Enclave Bridge, Burma Bridge, G-7 and G-8 underpass, various pedestrian bridges and construction activities carried out in the Capital Hospital.
In addition, rehabilitation of green areas, Rawat-Bhara Kahu Ring Road project, redrafting of Islamabad’s master plan, and plans to promote construction activities in the federal capital were also discussed.
To resolve the water-related issues and fulfil the requirements of the twin cities, a project of water supply from Ghazi Barotha had been initiated.
Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab chief secretary informed that the projects of construction on 7.49 million square feet had been approved. Whereas, the approval for construction projects on 12.07 million square feet was under process, and will be completed within the stipulated time.
