Rs305.76 mn allocated for projects in 3 oil and gas rich-districts

ISLAMABAD: Two prominent Exploration and Production (E&P) companies have allotted an amount of Rs305.76 million to fund welfare schemes and development projects in three oil and gas producing districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the current fiscal year.

Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) would spend Rs14.95 million in Kohat and Rs187.11 million in Karak districts, while MOL Pakistan would spend an apportioned Rs103.70 million in Karak, Kohat and Hangu districts per an official document circulated.

Tenders for the establishment of Computer and Language Centre at Government College Technology, Kohat are in process. An allocated amount of Rs0.992 million by OGDCL would be utilised for the process. Funds amounting to Rs0.906 million will be utilised to construct five underground water storage tanks in different localities of the district, besides installing a solar system on existing pressure pumps and providing 1500 RFT (Remote-Field Testing) pipeline.

Other projects include the construction of a causeway and RCC Bridge at different locations of Shakardara costing Rs12.36 million, and the establishment of a pond at Sherabad, Kohat District. An amount of Rs0.30 million has been allocated for the provision of football kits to local teams besides arranging cricket tournaments.

In Karak district, the OGDCL will spend Rs27.55 million for the construction of an academic block at the Postgraduate College and new rooms at primary schools, besides providing study benches.

OGDCL has also allocated funds amounting to Rs25.40 million for provision of an ambulance for Karak Hospital and establishment of a Trauma Centre at the DHQ hospital. For the execution of water supply schemes, installation of pressure pumps and solar panels, Rs89.70 million have been apportioned. Infrastructure development costing Rs25.68 and up-gradation of cricket stadium costing Rs19.68 million has also been funded by the company.

The MOL Pakistan has allocated Rs103.70 million for carrying out water supply, health, education and infrastructure development projects during the year 2019-20.
