The inflow through Roshan Digital Accounts reached a total of $3.922bn by the end of March 2022 – 19 months since the launch of the programme. Moreover, the month of March saw the opening of 23, 312 new accounts as well.
The data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) shows that a flow of $290mln was registered in Pakistan during March 2022 in comparison to $250mln in February 2022.
This is more than the average inflows of $250mln during the past six months depicting a n MoM increase of 16% or $40mln.
RDA or Roshan Digital Account service was launched in September 2020 allowing the Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) to open accounts without being physically present in Pakistan. So far 388,494 accounts in total have been opened.
RDA is an initiative of the State Bank of Pakistan for Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRP), formed in partnership with commercial banks operating in Pakistan. It was a part of the PTI government’s strategy to attract foreign inflows, much-needed for a country like Pakistan facing an increase in the current account deficit.
From September 2020 to February 2022 the total investments made through the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) inflows amount to $2.529bn.
