RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued a notification under section 4, allowing the government to secure land along the Ring Road to develop multiple projects.
Under this notification, the land will be procured from individuals by the government on decided rates.
The authority will utilise the land to establish a housing project under Naya Pakistan Housing scheme, a medical city, and an economic zone informed RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza.
In addition, educational institutions including a technical college spread over 700 acres, a 300-acre hospital, along with parks, various markets will also be set up along the signal-free corridor to accommodate the residents of the housing project, he further added.
The project scheduled to be completed until 2023 will not address the existing traffic congestion issues faced but also alleviate the noise and environmental pollution experienced and boost the economic activities.
The authority will also designate land for the development of various commercial sites, and industries, along with health and education facilities
A financial model is yet to be finalised by the authority to complete the project, the chairman added.
