RAWALPINDI: In a major crackdown against illegal housing schemes, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), on Wednesday, lodged First Information Reports (FIRs) against six such schemes.
The decision was taken by Director General RDA Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa. He directed the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate RDA to take action for marketing illegal schemes.
These illegal schemes were located in areas such as Chak Beli Khan Road, GT Road, Mandra Gujar Khan and Mouza Katarian and Thallian Rawalpindi.
The authorities found that the developers of these schemes had not acquired a NOC from RDA. Without approval, all types of marketing, advertisement, and development are illegal.
According to the details shared by the RDA spokesperson, the authority had sent several letters to The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, Cyber Crime Islamabad The Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Islamabad, SNGPL Islamabad, The District Collector Rawalpindi, District Council Rawalpindi, PEMRA Islamabad, and Commissioner Islamabad to request information regarding these housing schemes.
The RDA spokesperson added that the developers of these illegal schemes had been warned several times to stop their illegal activities. They were also requested to obtain approval from the authority before advertising their schemes.
