RAWALPINDI: In a meeting of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Economic Zones Facilitation Committee, chaired by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza, the authorities have invited proposals to establish economic zones along the new Rawalpindi Ring Road.
The proposals are sought by traders from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The meeting was attended by Director General RDA Amara Khan, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Nasir Mirza and President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Yasir Ilyas.
The authority approved setting up various Special Economic Zones (SEZs) projects, including industrial, educational, recreational, medical health, residential and aerotropolis will be set up along the 65.8km long Rawalpindi Ring Road.
In addition, a dry port, business centres, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, amusement parks and residential properties will be constructed on both sides of the ring road.
The project will introduce new employment opportunities and boost the economy.
