Gujrat: Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) has proposed an allocation of 1000 plots for low-cost housing under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme. The plan includes construction of 1600 low-cost houses.
Initially started by the provincial housing department in 1955-96, a poor response from public led to the shelving of the scheme. Later a decision was made to hand it over to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Works under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme. However no steps were taken to launch it. Consequently the provincial housing department has now proposed to withdraw the former decision and regain plot possession.
