LAHORE: The Punjab Government has announced the development of Ferozepur Road as a Central Business District (CBD) by constructing modern high-rise commercial buildings.
The proposal involves erecting towering commercial centres at the sites of Rescue 1122 Academy and Camp Jail.
As per the estimates, the development of the area into a CBD has the potential to generate billions of rupees for the provincial government.
In a meeting held recently, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi discussed the proposal and instructed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan for the commercial buildings.
Furthermore, he urged officials to explore alternative locations for Camp Jail and Rescue 1122 Academy to make way for the proposed high-rise commercial centres.
The construction of high-rise commercial centres in the middle of the city is expected to promote commercial activities and boost economic growth. In light of this, the provincial government has been urged to expedite the CBD Cooperative project.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to promote economic growth and development in the province, which is expected to create job opportunities and boost investment in the region.
At present, the provincial government has not released any details on the timeline or cost of the project.
However, officials have stated that the project will be completed in phases. It is anticipated that the proposed development will bring about a significant economic boost and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
