LAHORE: In a meeting of the Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) governing body, the Punjab government permitted the conversion of 450 kanal agricultural land to industrial land for a mega project worth Rs25 billion in Mauza Pandoki (Bedian Distributary).
The development was approved as per rule 13 of the LDA Land Use Rules-2020 to promote foreign investment and generate employment after a Chinese firm applied for permission.
While reviewing this case in July, the design committee sought verification from the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) and a report from the LDA to assess the non-hazardous nature of the industry as per rule 13. The case was submitted to the LDA governing body for further evaluation.
After LDA received a commercialisation fee of Rs31 million, the design committee and the environmental protection department of the Lahore district administration issued no-objection certificates (NOCs).
