This monumental shift in governance allows Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to oversee the progress of various development projects through a specially designed online portal. Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb shared these details during a briefing to the Standing Committee on Planning and Development.

A record-breaking budget of PKR 844 billion has been earmarked for public development projects, marking the largest allocation in the province’s history. This budget aims to foster balanced growth across Punjab, addressing key sectors to benefit citizens across all regions.

In the healthcare sector, substantial upgrades are being implemented at multiple levels to improve medical facilities and accessibility. Simultaneously, environmental sustainability is receiving heightened attention, with initiatives aimed at improving industrial and agricultural practices. Subsidized agricultural machinery is being distributed to support farmers, while the “Clean Punjab” campaign is being expanded across all districts to ensure better hygiene and sanitation.

Education, IT, and skill development programs are also central to the province’s development agenda. Efforts are being made to equip the younger generation with modern skills to compete in the digital era. Additionally, the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme is offering affordable housing solutions, helping many citizens realize the dream of homeownership.

To address environmental concerns, measures to combat smog have been introduced. These include the implementation of zigzag kiln technology in brick production, a strict ban on plastic bags, and initiatives to minimize crop residue burning—one of the leading causes of air pollution in the region.

The Punjab government’s proactive approach underscores its commitment to sustainable development and equitable governance. By addressing critical areas such as healthcare, education, housing, and the environment, this historic budget ensures that the province’s progress reaches all segments of society, paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
