Islamabad: In regards to the federal budget 2019-20 a total of Rs29 billion have been allocated for the 120 ongoing and 17 new development projects of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Nearly Rs80 million have been marked for the construction of a hostel and sport facilities at the Karakoram International University, Rs50 million for the construction of University of Mines and Mineral in Naukandi and Rs300 million for work on the extension of Bolan University of Health Sciences in Quetta. Additional Rs500 million have gone to the establishment of Federal Institute at Hyderabad, Rs100 million for National centre for GIS and Space Application, Rs140 million for the National Centre for Nano-Science and Nano-Technology and Rs50 million for the women campus at Kohat University of Science and Technology. An amount of Rs150 million has been allocated for a campus at Batkhala University of Malakand.
For the Higher Education Development Programme an amount of Rs950million has been allocated while Rs300 million have gone for a project of the University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences. Similarly, Rs100 million will be spent on Pak-UK knowledge gateway project of HEC, Rs200 million on academia and research facilitation at QAU, Rs200 million for the University of Haripur, Rs50 million for the capacity building of Pakistan Academy of Sciences and Rs289 million for Hazara University in Mansehra.
