The decision came after a meeting was held with the higher management officials of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

Upon deliberation, the meeting finalised a set of decisions to boost Pakistan’s contribution to the global IT domain, resulting in the PM’s directives for the construction of the software city and abolishment of the double tax imposed on software exporters by both, federal and provincial governments.

The state-of-the-art facility will provide a platform for technology start-ups and companies and further help develop by investing in their growth. The focus on software startups will be critical to drive the economy through Pakistan’s IT contributions.

In addition, relief package for small scale software exporters will be introduced by the federal government to assist their growth.

The government will also supply foreign currency to software exporters at a rate that is lower than that of the market to the exports to achieve the goal of $10 billion in IT exports.
