ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has called the unplanned housing schemes a threat to the growth and development of the country.
While expressing his views, the PM mentioned that the government will transfer powers to provincial governments for the regulated development of housing plans on agricultural land.
He emphasized empowering provinces to monitor the unrestricted expansion of housing projects.
He was also of the view that the uncontrolled expansion of building schemes on agricultural land is posing a significant threat to national food security.
Furthermore, the provincial cabinets were given the authority to allow the implementation of housing schemes on agricultural land in order to prevent the unfettered conversion of green areas into grey zones.
