Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has made very categorical remarks that it is mandatory for everyone to have two trees planted in their newly constructed houses.
It clarified that no objection certificate for any residential or commercial project will be annulled if the owner fails to comply with the orders given by this court.
The court made these remarks while hearing a case pertaining to pollution control in Pakistan. The detailed verdict also read that all those who cut trees will have to face huge fines.
Likewise, all government departments were ordered that the court be submitted annual reports on tree plantation.
The court further directed that all educational institutes, hospitals, public spaces, shopping areas, etc. should have an adequate provision for tree plantation.
It is to be noted that the current government is keenly focusing on the Clean and Green Initiative, which aims for excessive tree plantation drives across the country.
