LAHORE: Chances of timely completion of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme appear to have increased after an announcement was made regarding the formulation of a comprehensive programme for the purpose.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has confirmed that a plan has been devised to improve the organisational capacity of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) to speed up the process.
Besides providing functional support to the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme, the programme is expected to boost the organisational reforms process as well. Moreover, the meeting held to discuss the same has also given approval for the restoration of different schemes along with increase in duration of construction of homes and initiation of development schemes under PHATA in different cities.
Rasheed added that finance and accounts, engineering, planning, procurement, communication and IT sections will be further strengthened so that early completion of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme can be ensured.
The proceedings took place in a board of directors meeting, which was attended by Secretary Housing Nadeem Mehbub, DG PHATA Liaquat Chatha, General Secretary Housing Taskforce Atif Ayub and others.
