LAHORE: Pakistan’s largest Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be established in Chaubara along the Muzaffargarh-Layyah road, in a bid to initiate economic activity and facilitate the impoverished area of South Punjab, announced the Punjab Government.
The mega SEZ will spread over an area of 20,000 acres, which can be expanded up to 50,000 acres, if necessary.
In this regard, a plan of action has been prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
This initiative was announced to facilitate the low-income groups and expats returning to the country, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
While commenting on the matter, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar announced the government’s plan to provide incentives to the companies investing in the SEZs.
The government has launched work to develop 13 SEZs and industrial estates within the last two years.
