Pakistani medics seek Indian visa for Indian occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: To provide medical treatment in Indian occupied Kashmir, 21 doctors have handed over an application to the Indian High Commission’s First Secre­tary (Economics and Com­merce) Ashish Sharma to issue visas on humanitarian grounds, informed Vice-Chancellor of University of Health Sciences (UHS) Prof Dr Javed Akram.

On Aug 30, the UHS and Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) had signed a declaration to send a multidisciplinary team of doctors, who will provide medical treatment and medicines to the people in the valley.

Along with discussing matters related to mutual cooperation in the health sector, Dr Akram discussed the matter of a team of doctors going to occupied Kashmir. The doctors were concerned about the public healthcare situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
