ISLAMABAD: While bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Poland has seen an increase of half a billion euros, Poland Ambassador to Pakistan Piotr A Opalinski believes that there is still plenty of room for more.
Addressing the business community in a visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, Opalinski said that diversification of exports is the need of the hour for Pakistan, as around 90% of the country’s exports to Poland are textile-based.
He added that Poland’s central location in Europe has the potential to transform into a hub for Pakistan’s exports to the European Union.
The envoy shared that collaboration in the IT sector was something that both countries were keen on, with Polish companies expressing earnest interest in enhancing the development of 5G and telecom infrastructure in Pakistan.
Touching on the subject of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Opalinski said that the progress on the mega project so far had caught the eye of Polish companies and they have been seriously considering investing in the multi-billion dollar venture.
