Islamabad: In order to promote the bilateral trading between Pakistan and China, in context of China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the meeting of Pakistan-China Working Level Experts Group on International Road Transport continued two days at the Ministry of Communications. Matters relating trade expansion and transport facilitation were discussed in detail.
On the occasion of signing the minutes of experts’ level meeting the Federal Secretary for Communications, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui said that Pakistan and China were together in the expansion of bilateral trade and economic uplift of the whole region.
Senior Joint Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Altaf Asghar led the Pakistani side whereas, the 8 member Chinese delegation was led by Lin Ping, Deputy Party Secretary of Transportation Department of Xinjiang.
The first day had under discussion matters relating Karakoram Highway, Kashgar- Gilgit Bus Service restoration, bus service from Lahore and Islamabad to Kashgar, multiple visa grants to drivers and crew members and the bilateral talk mechanism.
Problems faced by Transport Companies were reviewed. Proposal for opening of Pak- China border and minimising closure time was considered. The meeting has also told about the hopeful completion of Havelian- Thakot section by March 2020.
On the conclusion of experts’ level meeting both sides signed the agreed minutes.
