NHA carries out upgradation, expansion work on road networks in Balochistan

QUETTA: In a bid to develop infrastructure in the region, the National Highway Authority (NHA) is working to upgrade and expand various road networks in Balochistan.

The projects underway include the Zhob to Kuchlak Road project with an estimated worth of Rs63081 million being constructed under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Western alignment. An amount of Rs10,000 million has been allocated under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2020-2021.

The blacktop Yakmach-Kharan road project via Dostain-Wadh-Khurmagai costing Rs13758 million is also being constructed, for which a sum of Rs 1500 million has been allocated under the current PSDP.

A sum of Rs500 million has been earmarked for the 118km long rehabilitation, upgradation and widening project of Quetta – Dhadhar Section of N-65, costing Rs 7115.760 million.

The Dera Murad Jamali Bypass costing Rs 2105.954 will also be constructed, for which a sum of Rs1000 million has been allocated by the current PSDP.

A 106km two-lane Highway from Basima to Khuzdar worth Rs19188.435 million.

A sum of Rs4000 million has been earmarked for the construction of the Hoshab-Awaran Section of M-8 (146 km), with an estimated cost of Rs25835.893 million.

The authority is also working to expand the National Highway Rakhi Gajj-Bewata section of N-70 at an estimated cost of Rs22994.660 million. A sum of Rs1000 million has been allocated including Rs500 million foreign aid received.

The Yarik – Sagu – Zhob including Zhob Bypass (N-50) will be revamped at an estimated cost of Rs 76486.231, million.

The 23km long Quetta Western Bypass, costing Rs6890.569 million will be completed as a sum of Rs1500 million has been allocated this year.
