Rawalpindi: Federal government has released Rs400 million from a total of Rs1 billion for the completion of Mother and Child Hospital in Rawalpindi.
Inaugurated in 2005, the building has seen a delay of 13 years until 2018. In accordance with Supreme Court’s directions on July 1, 2018, the hospital will be functional within 18 months.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique said the building contract had been shifted to a new contractor. The work on the hospital building is expected to commence next month, heading towards closure by the end of 2019. Remaining amount of Rs600 million would be released before the current fiscal year ends.
The hospital will house a separate space for mother and child. 16 operation theatres, state of the art incubators, ultrasound and X-ray machines will be a part of it.
