Islamabad: Senator Mir Kabeer Shahi chaired a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works at the Parliament House on Tuesday.
The housing secretary Imran Zaib said that from a demand of constructing 500,000 low cost houses across seven districts of the country, around half of all demands were from the federal capital. This comprises of received requests to build some 230,000 houses from Islamabad under the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.
In accordance with the help of National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA), a nationwide survey will start after Eidul Fitr. It will be held at the Union Council (UC).
According to the housing secretary, several foreign investors were willing to to provide loans for upto 25 years under this programme.
2,200 low cost units will be constructed in the colony across 90 acres of land, said Zaib. He added saying that the Gwadar housing project has received some 7000 applications out of which 4000 will be selected. Apartments will be built after land acquisition. 2200 housing units will be built in Kuchlak likewise. These will be selected from a total of 7500 application received.
The committee also discoursed the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority Bill 2019.
