PESHAWAR: Zafar Mehmood, the advisor for Tourism, Archeology, and Culture to the Chief Minister of KP, has declared that civic officials who approve illegal constructions will face legal consequences as part of the anti-encroachment drive.
During a meeting with the heads of civic agencies, Mehmood announced that the caretaker government has instructed these organizations to initiate anti-encroachment campaigns in their respective tehsils and districts.
Mehmood accused the tehsil municipal administrations, National Highway Authority (NHA), and Communication and Works Department of issuing non-objection certificates to builders under political pressure in the past.
Nevertheless, the government has made a decision to start anti-encroachment drives to clear the right-of-way and demolish such structures.
Mehmood also revealed that an anti-encroachment campaign in Mansehra has been planned and will be launched soon.
