Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Division Commissioner, Aamir Khattak, has directed the Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal by installing LED lights on both sides of the 6th Road Flyover and Chandni Chowk Flyover, as reported on May 29.
The LED light installation is scheduled to commence next week. Imran Ali, the MCR Chief Officer, stated that this project marks the first-time replacement of outdated city lights with advanced and more expensive LED lights, in accordance with the Commissioner’s directives.
In addition to the lighting upgrade, the MCR has successfully reclaimed Khayaban Park, which had been under illegal occupation for 40 years. Plans are underway to develop this area into a modern public park. Upon completion, the park will be managed by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA).
The MCR remains committed to addressing encroachments and preserving the beauty of Rawalpindi, following the Commissioner’s guidance. The MCR Chief Officer has also encouraged the public to contact him directly regarding issues such as birth or death certificates and other MCR-related matters.
