LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sent a Rs.202 billion development budget to the government of Punjab for the fiscal year 2022-23. The final draft of the budget has been forwarded to the provincial government for further scrutiny and approval.
Asad Rehman Gillani, the Punjab Secretary of Housing, was briefed on the budget which includes some of Lahore’s ongoing development projects. According to the budget report, LDA will be working on several projects that are pertinent to improving the city’s infrastructure and overall connectivity.
Some of the projects listed in the budget include the Canal Tram project costing Rs.69 billion, the Gulberg Elevated Expressway project amounting to Rs.64 billion, and a road from Expocentre to Canal Road costing Rs.35 billion.
A few projects also consist of repairs and renovations to make the city’s roads smoother. Rs.35 billion has been allocated for repairing the Canal Road, while Rs.4.5 billion have been allotted to the repairs for Raiwind Road. Rs.29 billion has also been put aside for the overall repairs of the city’s roads.
The budget also includes a few underpass projects such as the Akbar Chowk and Qadir Topash Underpass projects – both costing Rs.2.5 billion each.
