Members of the National and Punjab Assemblies have lauded the provincial government’s plan to introduce an international-standard bullet train between Rawalpindi and Lahore, calling it a transformative step in Punjab’s development.
The bullet train project, the first of its kind in Pakistan, is expected to be a significant milestone in the region’s growth. Lawmakers emphasized that the development of Punjab is key to the country’s overall progress.
The initiative, inspired by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision, has been carefully planned with the cooperation of Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi. Former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan expressed that PML-N’s governance always propels the country toward rapid development, stressing that Pakistan must keep up with global modernization trends. PML-N MNA Nuzhat Sadiq credited Maryam Nawaz for transforming Punjab into a developed province, while Senator Nasir Mehmood Butt emphasized that modern transport infrastructure is essential for national progress.
MNA Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry noted that the bullet train will not only save time but also offer high-quality transport to the public. Provincial Assembly member Malik Iftikhar highlighted that the new service will significantly enhance the lives of people in the region, while senior PML-N leader Haji Parvez pointed out the considerable savings in both time and fuel the project will bring.
