ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled plans to develop a modern food street in Blue Area as part of efforts to enhance Islamabad’s appeal. The initiative is among several recreational and tourism projects approved during a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Tuesday.
The proposed food street will showcase a mix of top local and international food brands, modern infrastructure, and dedicated parking facilities—an uncommon feature in the capital. Additional amenities will include scenic walkways, electric carts for seniors and children, and cashless payment options.
Beyond the food street, the meeting also discussed major tourism and recreational ventures, including a cable car system, a zip line, and the revival of the Art and Craft Village. Feasibility studies for these projects have been commissioned. Plans for a Safari Park and a cultural center were also reviewed to further promote Islamabad as a vibrant tourist destination.
