Islamabad ranked 16th out of 55 cities on the Quality of Life Index for Asia, according to the 2022 report by Numbeo, the world’s largest cost of living database.
The capital maintained the previous year’s position on this index, with Lahore ranking the same on the 36th position, and Karachi climbing from last year’s 46th position to the 43rd.
Islamabad also ranked higher than Mumbai, Beijing and Beijing, which positioned 41st, 52nd and 54th respectively.
Dubai ranked first, replacing Muscat from last year’s index, while Manila ranked last.
Numbeo is a crowd-sourced global database that compares countries on the basis of several indicators that are valued by citizens, including housing, crime rate, quality of healthcare, transport facilities and other intangible factors.
The Quality of Life Index provides a framework for practical research on cost of living and property markets, and enables the calculation of derived indices such as purchasing power etc.
