Islamabad: Islamabad Expressway from Gulberg Islamabad till Rawat has been approved. As a result the expansion of the Islamabad Expressway will recommence from Gulberg Islamabad all the way to Rawat. This leg of the expansion is around 13km long. Islamabad Expressway connects over a quarter million people living in Zone-V of Islamabad. Hundreds of thousands of vehicles commute on Islamabad Expressway on a daily basis from Rawat to Islamabad city and beyond. Being a major route, the signal free corridor linking Zero Point in Islamabad to Rawat on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road, will offer a wider course to traffic entering and exiting the city.
Popular housing societies including Defence Housing Authority, Bahria Town, Gulberg Islamabad, Naval Anchorage, Emaar Canyon Views, and PWD are located on either sides of the Islamabad Expressway. The much awaited expansion of the Islamabad Expressway into a five lane free corridor will ease the commute for millions of inhabitants and improve the traffic flow. The CDA had recently proposed that housing societies construct interchanges at their own cost to connect their entrances to Islamabad Expressway. This would make it much easier to enter and exit the Islamabad Expressway for the hundreds of thousands of residents living across these housing societies. On completion of the Islamabad Expressway expansion the travelling time will significantly cut down for residents living in nearby housing societies up to 40% atleast.
Islamabad Expressway is integral part of the master plan of Islamabad and serves as a signal-free corridor all the way to the G.T. road in Rawat area. The federal government has been reviewing the master plan in order to identify priority areas for development and further planning. Once the development work expedites, the game for investors and buyers respective to the housing societies on both sides of the Islamabad Expressway will rise massively. The volume of real estate investment will thus see a rapid increase.
