Lahore: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to stop horizontal growth in the provincial capital and formulate new by-laws for construction of high rise buildings in both public and private sectors.
A Supreme Court decision in 2007 had resulted into the demolition of nearly 70 buildings and stopped LDA from authorizing high-rise constructions. Subsequently, the court had lifted the ban on construction of high-rise buildings in Lahore.
The LDA Vice Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Imran said that vertical expansion of the city could provide housing and commercial facilities to the people.
