ISLAMABAD: The federal government has permitted to continue Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) activities at the Gwadar Port, announced a notification issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
The decision was taken after reviewing the requests by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other relevant institutions.
“The trucks leaving the Gwadar Port for Afghanistan under the ATT Agreement, would be completely sealed and also have a tracking system installed in them,” the statement further informed.
The cargo consigned to Afghanistan will transport wheat, sugar and manure across the border, and will be aligned with the international standards amid the outbreak of COVID-19.
Given the current condition of, ATT is expected to not only boost the economy but also create employment opportunities for the local community of Gwadar.
