Grant of $60,613 approved by Japan for Social Development Project

ISLAMABAD: The Government of Japan has decided on the provision of financial assistance amounting to US $60,613 for a street pavement project in Union Council Beer, Haripur District.

In a statement issued from the embassy of Japan in Islamabad here on Wednesday, Badban Enterprises Development Forum (BEDF), a local non-government organisation in Haripur District, would be provided with the grant.

The agreement for the project was signed between the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Mr Kuninori Matsuda and head of the recipient organisation at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan in Islamabad.

The grant would be utilised for the pavement of streets and construction of drains in six different villages of Beer Union Council. The grant would remedy the issues of broken streets which severely hinder the mobility of residents, particularly during rainy days.

The project, aimed at the improvement of street infrastructure, is estimated to benefit 11,685 individuals of the six villages.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Matsuda expressed confidence in the recipient organisation. He congratulated the BEDF on winning the grant. He assured that the Government of Japan will continue to support the people of Pakistan to improve their living standard.
