ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to remove the requirement of No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the development of high-rise and multi-storey buildings around airports, in five major cities of the country.

The five major cities included Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Multan.

A summary, in this regard, was submitted to the federal cabinet by the Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NPHDA), informed Prime Minister’s Taskforce on Housing Member Hasan Bakshi, in an online meeting of the NAPHDA, chaired by Chairman NAPHDA General (Retd) Anwar Ali Hyder.

“The cabinet will take up the matter in its next meeting” he further added.

Currently, to construct multi-storey and high-rise buildings within a15.24km radius of the airports, the developers are bound to acquire a NOC from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), which take almost six months.

This initiative is aimed to promote housing and construction activities across the country while saving cost and time of construction.

Earlier, the government revoked the condition to acquire a NOC for construction on the land beyond 15km of an airport.
