ISLAMABAD: The government has released a sum of Rs6.2 billion for the land acquisition of Rawalpindi Ring Road project, informed Tariq Mehmood Murtaza, Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
Prime Minister Imran Khan would soon perform ground-breaking of this vital project, he further added.
The 6-lane Rawalpindi Ring Road project sprawls on an area of 65.5km and is directed to avert the traffic congestion experienced in the twin cities, and initiate development activities that will in tune, boost the economy.
In addition, the authorities approved setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), industrial zones, housing societies, business and educational hubs, healthcare facilities, parks, markets, transport terminals, along both the sides of the road project to uplift the economy.
The Rawalpindi Ring Road project to be constructed under public-private partnership (PPP) model is scheduled to be completed within 2-3 years, informed Chairman RDA while addressing the business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI).
