LAHORE: The government has been planning a strategy to generate employment for PhDs, said Federal Minister for Education, Professional Training and National Heritage Shafqat Mahmood, while speaking at the first international seminar on the Higher Education University Rankings organised by the Times Higher Education and the University of Lahore.
He further highlighted the need to reform the curriculum that would promote research culture in the universities.
Speaking at the occasion, Punjab Higher Education Minister Raja Yasir Hamayun announced that the government was focusing on establishing universities having international ranking in divisions.
Higher Education Commission Punjab Chairman Dr Fazal Ahmed Khalid told the ceremony that 14 Pakistani universities were among 100 top varsities of the world out of which nine are from Punjab and five from Lahore.
To achieve international ranking, we have to make some parameters and universities should follow these parameters, he said.
