ANKARA — A devastating fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort in northern Türkiye claimed the lives of at least 10 people and left 32 others injured early Tuesday morning, local officials confirmed.
The blaze erupted around 2:27 a.m. local time in the restaurant area of a hotel, rapidly spreading through the building, according to Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin. Emergency response teams from nearby cities rushed to the scene to combat the fire and evacuate the guests.
Approximately 230 people staying at the hotel were successfully evacuated as firefighters worked tirelessly to control the inferno. Rescue operations unfolded under challenging conditions, with authorities emphasizing the swift coordination between emergency crews.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and forensic teams have been dispatched to gather evidence.
