ISLAMABAD: After approval, the final plan of the 65km long Rawalpindi Ring Road Project Economic Corridor (RRPE) was released by the Punjab government, which includes 10 new commercial and residential zones.
Having six-lanes on each side, and eight interchanges, the signal-free corridor will also feature a dry port equipped with modern facilities, well-equipped Hospital near Chak Beli Interchange, international expo centre, amusement park between Chakri and Morat interchanges, fruit and vegetable markets, goods and public transport terminals, and cattle markets, informed Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza.
The residential projects will be set up along four interchanges.
In addition, the authority will plant 0.15 million seedlings along the entire signal-free corridor.
The public hearing of the Ring Road project would be carried out on October 19.
The foundation of the mega-project will be laid by Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in December.
