GILGIT: The federal government of Pakistan has allocated Rs 40.5 billion for uplift schemes in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) as part of their Public Sector Development Programme (2021-22).
Speaking at a press conference, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar stated that a development package worth Rs 55 billion was in the pipeline for the province. The funds allocation was to be increased in the fiscal year 2022-24.
Addressing a press conference here along with Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khursheed and the provincial ministers, Asad Umar said the total worth of the GB development package is Rs 55 billion.
The minister further stated that a Gilgit-Shandoor Expressway worth Rs 50 billion would be completed and would be part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
