KASUR/SAHIWAL: The efforts to evacuate the affected people in Ganda Singhwala locality and its adjacent villages continued by the rescue teams as the Sutlej flood continued for the third consecutive day. This has left hundreds of villagers and livestock displaced in Kasur.
Over 1,000 people have been shifted to base camps and other relief camps.
The water discharge at Ganda Singh had increased by 13,000 cusecs during the last 24 hours. The discharge of water was recorded at 45, 000 cusecs at Talwar post, which has increased to 58,000 cusecs.
The flood plan prepared by the district administration states that villages including Dona Malkana, Anoki, Kassoki, Masteki, Bangladesh, Bedian Usman, Mabboki, Hakuwala, Natheki, Banbodla Khurd, Banbodla Kalan, Ratnewala, Thathi Farid, Sherewala, Sheikh Umad Nau, Thathi Usman, Attar Singhwala, Jalloki, Hastwala, Mamoke Mehmood, Manuwala, Kalangir, Juggian, Dhoopsari, Kot Sundhar Singh, Mamoke Sharif, Mahiwala, Saifalianwala and Bhikiwind are currently at a risk of being hit with a low-level flood.
The administrative authorities have ordered to start evacuating people and livestock from these villages, as a result of the warnings.
The Pakpattan district administration in the Sahiwal region has also put almost 70 villages on high alert across both sides of the Sutlej, as the threat of flooding prevails. The warnings have also been conveyed to the residents through mosques, Rescue 1122, police, health, and revenue and irrigation staff.
