ISLAMABAD: Plans for development in Pakistan were off to a promising start on New Year’s Day as the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) gave its approval to eight projects worth Rs13 billion intended for enhancing transport and communications, livelihoods, urban resources and water management.
The proceedings took place in a meeting which was chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan. A further five projects at a cost of Rs112.20bn were also recommended to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) in the same meeting.
One of the approved schemes is a transport and communication project titled ‘Construction of Bridge over River Ravi at Mal Fatyana District Toba Tek Singh’, for which an amount of Rs1.9bn has been allocated.
A project aimed at improving livelihood and well-being of female home-based workers in Sindh, worth Rs541.09 million, was also given the go-ahead by the CDWP.
