The proceedings took place in a meeting which was chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan. A further five projects at a cost of Rs112.20bn were also recommended to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) in the same meeting.

One of the approved schemes is a transport and communication project titled ‘Construction of Bridge over River Ravi at Mal Fatyana District Toba Tek Singh’, for which an amount of Rs1.9bn has been allocated.

A project aimed at improving livelihood and well-being of female home-based workers in Sindh, worth Rs541.09 million, was also given the go-ahead by the CDWP.

Project procurement of three printing machines for the Survey of Pakistan (SoP) – the sole national mapping and land surveying government agency of the country – also received approval. The project, which will cost Rs483.64mn, will serve to modernise SoP’s Lithographic Printing by replacing old machines with latest units.

Meanwhile, projects related to health, food, agriculture and physical planning and housing were referred to the ECNEC for consideration.
