ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) presided by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin approved four development projects worth Rs448.36 billion.
The projects approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) include Punjab Arterial Roads Improvement Programme (PARIP), comprising a dual-carriageway covering Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Layyah, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Vehari, Okara, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal in Punjab, worth Rs129.944bn.
The authority also approved the Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway project worth Rs95.81bn, to be executed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. The 117.20-km project will comprise of a 4-lane, and will be constructed under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode,
The other projects approved include Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme K-IV, 260 MGD Phase – I worth Rs126.405bn, Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project (PRSWSSP) worth Rs96.202bn to be carried out by Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company in southern Punjab.
The Planning Minister Asad Umer approved the meeting, Industries and Production Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Adviser to the PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, federal secretaries, and other senior officers from relevant federal and provincial governments.
