ISLAMABAD: In a meeting presided over by Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), approved six developmental projects worth Rs101 billion.
The meeting approved the engineering, procurement and construction of the Kartarpur Corridor costing Rs16.546 billion, under (EPC)/turnkey basis for phase-1 of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, Narowal district. The cost of the project will be covered by the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
The ECNEC also granted approval for the construction of Winder Dam project worth Rs15.3 billion in the in Lasbela district, Balochistan. The project has been scheduled to be completed within four years.
The Kachhi Canal project proposed at a revised cost of Rs22.9 billion was also okayed by the meeting. The cost of the project will be covered by CDWP, which includes detailed feasibility, worth Rs120 million for the engineering design/tender documents/PC-Is for phase-II and phase-III.
The approved project also includes an Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant (44 MGD) for Faisalabad City (phase-I) which be constructed at a total cost of Rs19 billion and the Lahore Water and Wastewater Management project costing Rs14.4 billion.
