ISLAMABAD: While presiding over a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Hafeez Shaikh approved four supplementary grants to accelerate efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The approved grants include allocation of Rs5 billion to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for the surveillance and risk management control of the spread of COVID-19. The authority will direct the issued grant to purchase equipment, especially respirators, facilitation of different types of personal protection equipment (PPEs) and face masks.
The Ministry of Housing and Works were allocated a granted of Rs275 million for capital outlay on civil works,
In addition, NADRA received Rs84.352 for the FATA temporarily displaced persons (TDP) Emergency Recovery Project.
The Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme also received a funding of Rs5.5 billion.
The meeting formed an inter-ministerial committee to review the incentive proposals summary for the National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) of the climate change ministry.
The committed placed under the leadership of Advisor to PM on Commerce Razak Dawood, comprises of members of Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Special Assistant to PM on Austerity and Institutional Reforms Dr Ishrat Hussain and Special Assistant to PM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, Chairman of the planning commission and the secretaries for industry and climate change divisions, and has been to directed to strengthen the proposals in a month’s time for the NEVP package.
